Logo Mats - ECONYL® and recycled plastic bottles.
Life on earth and our beautiful planet are precious to all of us but they also hang in a precarious position, where the balance of scale could easily be tipped in the wrong direction. While we are all trying to do our best daily within our own domestic environments, companies across the world are also trying hard to do their part to reduce their carbon footprint and reduce waste.
Logomatworks, a leading UK supplier of logo floor mats, our nylon high twist yarn is now produced using recycled plastic bottles and ECONYL® regenerated nylon.
What is ECONYL®?
In 2011, Giulio Bonazzi, the CEO of an Italian family-owned business called Aquafil, set about seeking sustainable design and created the product ECONYL® - regenerated nylon. This product is produced by using ocean and landfill waste from items such as discarded fishing nets, industrial plastics, old carpets and textile scraps which would otherwise have been left in the ocean or thrown away in a landfill.
Following on from Aquafil’s innovative research, there are now a number of every day products that have been remoulded and recreated using ocean and landfill waste. These include floor mats, swimwear, clothing, shoes, fashion accessories and home design products.
By rescuing waste from our oceans and landfill sites, brand new products have been created without using additional raw materials and resources. The positive outcome of this form of re-commercialisation and recycling provides hope for the future and is a welcomed example of innovation, conservation and preservation.
